To streamline our international payment process, OCUS has entered a partnership with Tipalti, allowing us to more efficiently send payments to more than 130 countries.
If you reside outside of the SEPA zone, you will be impacted by our Tipalti partnership. If you live within the SEPA zone, you are not affected by any new procedures.
If you are impacted by the Tipalti partnership, you must go to your private OCUS dashboard to access your payment settings and fill in all your bank details again to ensure that they are transmitted to Tipalti’s system. This step is imperative for you to receive future payments.
If OCUS does not receive the necessary information to issue your payment, an email will be sent to you by Tipalti. You must update your information from your OCUS interface or directly on your Tipalti dashboard before the 15th of every month in order to generate your monthly invoice.
Depending on your country of residence, you will have the choice between different payment options:
- E-Check (Direct Deposit/ACH): an echeck, also called an electronic check, is exactly how it sounds: an electronic version of a paper check. Just like its paper counterpart, the echeck draws funds from the payer’s bank account, and in a sense, both are processed electronically, albeit with some differences.
- PayPal: one of the most trusted online payment systems in the world. It serves as an alternative to traditional paper methods like checks and money transfers. PayPal is based on e-mail addresses, which makes transferring money easy amd currently operates on a 99.4% success rate world wide when incorporated with Tipalti.
- Wire Transfer: this solution should only be considered if you are unable to choose any of the other offered payment methods. While widely accepted around the world, there are many drawbacks from utilizing wire transfers over E-Checks and PayPal. Wire transfers use a direct link between banks on both sides of the transfer. Although international transfers are more expensive than local transfers, they tend to be more reliable and faster.
Depending on your geographic area, the payment solution that best suits your needs will be automatically offered to. You have the choice to accept or modify it directly from your Tipalti account, but be careful because the costs may differ from one solution to another. They will always be communicated to you before validating.
In addition, a conversion fee of 2.5% will apply if your payment is made in your local currency and differs from the currency used during the transfer (ex: the transfer was made in dollars but the payment is received by your bank in your local currency). This fee is below the industry standard and much lower than the cost of converting USD or EUR at your bank and will increase the payment acceptance rate.
Thanks to Tipalti, regardless of your geographic location, you will be able to receive your payments within a maximum of 5 business days from the time of issuance if all payment and personal information is correctly entered on your end.
If your invoice is valid and if all the steps mentioned in the previous articles have been respected, your invoice will be paid 30 days after the month worked, between the 1st and the 5th of the following month.
For example, if you do photo shoot on February 20th, you will receive a summary between February 28th and March 5th and the payment will be processed the first week of April (30 days after the end of the month worked: February).
